New Frasers Group CEO announces top team appointments

Following his hiring last year, Frasers Group’s new chief executive has announced a number of significant changes to the company’s senior team in order to “accelerate the group’s plan.”

Murray stated in a LinkedIn post-Wednesday, “I’m now five weeks into my role as chief executive, and as part of my commitment, I’ll be bringing the right individuals on board, to lead Frasers Group into the future and expand on our strong foundations.”

Murray, who will follow founder Mike Ashley as CEO in 2021, has announced the appointment of Nike veteran Ger Wright as the new managing director of the company’s sports division.

Wright worked at the US sportswear company for 16 years, most recently as vice president and general manager of its EMEA merchandising marketplace from August 2018 to January 2021.

Frasers CEO shakes up EXEC team

In addition, the group’s Premium and Luxury segment have a new managing director, David Epstein. David has been with the company for seven years, most recently serving as managing director of House of Fraser from December 2019 until June 2022.

Flannels, Sports Direct, House of Fraser, and Jack Wills are all part of the Frasers Group, which has been focused extensively on its elevation strategy in recent years as it attempts to reposition itself towards a more premium segment.

Beckie Stanion was also named chief marketing officer of the company. Since February 2020, she has held the same position at Sports Direct.

Frasers Group announced on Wednesday that it has purchased fast fashion company Missguided for £20 million, only one day after it went into administration.

Missguided will continue to function as a standalone business under Frasers Group, which is ravenous for acquisitions.

“We are happy to ensure a long-term future for Missguided, which will benefit from the strength and scale of Frasers Group’s platform as well as our operational excellence,” CEO Murray said on Wednesday.

Missguided’s digital-first approach to the newest women’s fashion trends will add to the Frasers Group’s knowledge.”
