Trevor Bauer of the Los Angeles Dodgers has filed a slander lawsuit against the owner of Deadspin.

In a defamation lawsuit against the owner of Deadspin, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer claims that the sports commentary website published false information about him and launched an "unrelenting attack" against him with the goal of "humiliating him and destroying his baseball career." Deadspin denies the allegations. According to the complaint, a Deadspin post published on July 6, 2021, claimed that the lady who accused Bauer of assault last year had "her skull shattered" as a result of an encounter with Bauer. The lawsuit focuses especially on that article. Other news media sites focused on "evidence" of such an injury since that is what the lady claimed in her plea for a temporary restraining order against Bauer. Bauer was arrested and charged with assault and battery. Her motion to the court, which was submitted in late June, indicated that she had been diagnosed with an "acute head injury" and that she had "evidence of a basilar skull fracture."
