French girl chic isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. As modeling’s ideal California girl, Gigi Hadid brings a touch of that carefree, joyful spirit to every catwalk she walks down, and this season, as she’s made her way around Europe for the collections, she’s maintained her outfit vibrant and up to date with her surroundings. However, rather than opting for the traditional model-off-duty essentials such as high-end jeans and leather jackets, Hadid has embraced bright colors, flowery designs, and warm textures.
In Paris, Hadid and her stylist Mimi Cuttrell have emphasized the use of color, choosing a palette that includes greens, yellows, and rich neutrals as the primary hues. Since gliding into the city to appear in Off-fall White’s 2022 runway show, Hadid has donned a number of ensembles that have a brilliant pop of color. Kim Jones’ resort 2022 collection for Fendi, which she wore to the rehearsals for Coperni on Monday, was a hit with the audience. It was modest, but Hadid amplified the effect by pairing her striped sweater and matching pants with striking blue sunglasses by Poppy Lissiman for an extra pop of color.
The next day, after leaving Off-White, Hadid walked to her vehicle in a set of dazzling pieces from Virgil Abloh’s spring 2022 collection. Virgil Abloh’s light yellow parachute cargo trousers, trench coat, and sequin crop top came together in a seamless manner, exemplifying the designer’s masterful blending of inspirations. From the late designer’s adaptable pieces, which were fit for a sneakerhead (Hadid accessorized the suit with the renowned Oddsy 1000 shoes) to a Hollywood actress, the look exemplified all-American elegance.
While out to dinner at L’Avenue on Avenue Montaigne last night, Hadid opted for a bold ensemble that may have been her most audacious of the season. Taking inspiration from Bruno Sialelli’s most recent Lanvin collection, she wore a flowery catsuit and matching coat to honor a historic French home while channeling blithe, California-girl enthusiasm. The Lanvin design, which was adorned with pop-art flower designs in pastel yellow and pink hues, exuded exuberance and joy. The star’s daring cosmetic choice reflected her upbeat disposition. Hadid, who was dressed to the nines with matching eyeshadow by makeup artist Patrick Ta eyeshadow, delivered a ray of sunshine to PFW’s nightlife with her appearance.
