This was followed by a statement saying that the persons in question had benefited themselves “at the cost of the Russian people” and that some had promoted their family members into high-ranking posts. Others have positions of power in Russia’s leading corporations and are responsible for mobilizing the resources required to assist Putin’s invasion of Ukrainian territory. These people and their family members will be shut off from the financial system of the United States, their assets in the United States will be frozen, and their property will be seized and put into storage.” In today’s announcement, the United States will penalize a large number of Putin’s associates and their family members.”Alisher Usmanov, a metals mogul with links to the Everton soccer team in the United Kingdom, is the first person to be named.
As one of Vladimir Putin’s favorite billionaires, his status was characterized by the European Union when the EU implemented sanctions against him.
As stated in the White House announcement, “his property will be blocked from use in the United States and by American citizens – including his superyacht, which was recently seized by our ally Germany, and his private jet, which is one of Russia’s largest privately-owned aircraft,” according to the White House announcement. The next person on the list is multi-millionaire Dmitry Peskov, “who, in his capacity as Putin’s spokesperson, is a leading distributor of Putin’s propaganda,” according to the White House. In addition, the United States placed visa restrictions on 19 oligarchs and 47 members of their families and close friends.
Full sanctions were imposed on Nikolai Tokarev and his two luxury real estate companies, Boris Rotenberg, Arkady Rotenberg, Sergei Chemezo, Yevgeniy Prigozhin, and his three companies members of their families.
